Solenoid-Operated Isolation Valves

Target Rock has over 3,000 solenoid valves installed worldwide in nuclear safety related applications. Plant designers have increasingly taken advantage of the low cost and ease of installation of solenoid valves as compared to traditional isolation valve technologies. The low weight and center-of-gravity means the valves are line supported without need to design and construct additional seismic support. The low voltage and power demands mean solenoid valves required minimal support systems to operate - no pneumatic system, no 3-phase power cable, no motor control center. Just two small gauge wires and a set of electrical contacts is all that is required. In addition to reduced cost of plant construction, these advantages also simplify plant modifications where space and available power may be a premium.
